2019 Sam Whitson

Sam Whitson is a Tennessee State Representative, and was imperative in getting DSAMT’s first legislative bill passed. The Down syndrome Information Act requires the TN State Department of Health to place information and resources across the state on their website and make that information available to both families and providers. Representative Whitson assisted DSAMT in coordinating the 3.21 Down syndrome Day on the hill and was instrumental in passing the house resolution declaring 3/21/2019 and Down syndrome Day in TN. He is currently very involved in Tennessee’s version of the Katie Beckett Waiver, and has always supported legislation benefitting those with disabilities.
