2024 Self-Advocate of the Year: Cassy Hix

Cassy began public speaking at Coopertown Elementary where she made a farewell speech as she was transitioning from elementary to high school. She graduated from Springfield High School in 2009, where she was a member of the marching band and color guard. Cassie has also been in the spotlight not only for showing steers for 4-h, but she has also modeled for Service Merchandise and the Methodist Publishing House. Cassy shares a scripture each Sunday at her Church, Simpkins Chapel where her father is pastor. Cassy worked at Robertson County Schools for several years as a cafeteria worker until covid. She currently works at TN Kid Nutrition packing school lunches for children. She also helps her father in heat and air business. In addition to her jobs, Cassy likes to stay busy by keeping things tidy at home and cooking. Cassy is very aware of her health and sometimes enjoys working out and walking. She loves to dance, listen to music, watch Hallmark, Golden Girls and cooking shows. Cassy is passionate about Jesus and loves to worship.
